Ricoh Aficio MP C4000

Install Drivers

  1. Use one of the following two methods to install the drivers:
    • Get the drivers from the install CD (in the computer closet). Insert the CD and drill down to the correct location (making sure to choose the correct OS X version).  Run the .pkg file.   Or...
    • Download the driver. Go to http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/ra/model/mpc40/mpc40en.htm, then scroll down to the correct section for your operating system (Mac OS X 10.6, etc.).
  2. Note that for 10.6 (on Eric's MacBook Pro), the CD version did not work and so we had to download the latest version
  3. After downloading, Run the .pkg file.

  13. Set up default print preset to use Black & White by going to an application, going to Print, and saving a new preset "Standard-Grayscale", making sure to set color to B&W.  See below for more details:

Creating Black & White Preset

Go to any program, like Safari for instance, and then to File->Print.  Click on this dropdown next to the printer name.  This gives you access to create a preset.

Under Presets, choose "Save As":

In the popup, name it something like "Standard-Grayscale".

Then click the dropdown at the bottom and choose Printer Features:

Then choose Color Mode and change it to Black & White:

Under Preset, choose Save to save your changes.  That should do it.  Once you print with this preset, it should become the default.
